At the start of each year, I choose a word for the year. I can’t even remember when I started choosing words, but it has been one of the constants in my life. Sometimes the word comes easy, and other years it takes time and lots of reflection. Last year was a tough one, but when I finally chose the word, it just felt right.
Curate means to collect, organize and share. That’s pretty much what I did this year.
I’ve had some tough years in the past that really tested me. 2022 was the first year in a long time that I felt ready to grow and curate the life I wanted. That meant doing a lot of collecting.
We collected lots of memories. We attended two weddings for people very close to our hearts and got to spend lots of time with people that mean so much to us. We spent lots of time on the baseball field connecting with other families and other moms looking to feed their creative souls, too!
I collected lots of inspiration and creative energy. I started to see the creativity all around me and collected little moments and snippets. I connected with other artists and played with lots of new mediums.
I took the time to organize and reflect. This was probably the hardest part for me this year… finding the time to sit and just write and think about things. It goes against my nature but man feels so good looking at the many notebooks and sketchbooks I have.
I shared with others through my social media, my website, and the courses I attended and presented at. I’ve gotten back into presenting at conferences and it feels so good to be back sharing with other educators, creatives, and more.
2022 wasn’t perfect, but it was a pretty good year. I am excited to take my curations into 2023. Can’t wait to share what my 2023 word is!
